If Rose Hill Drive isn't playing a New Year's album show at the Boulder Theater this year, then I'm sure I'm not the only one who will consider that a horrific breach of protocol, the death of a tradition, the Seventh Seal, the nail in the coffin of Boulder's economy, the final straw, the end of an era, dogs and cats cohabiting, and just an all-around crushing bummer.
So that's not how it's going to go down.
I'm assuming RHD is there for us. They know that starting January 1st, we buy our new calendars and start crossing off days until the end of December. They know that the best shows we see during the rest of the year are but a faint echo of the sonic genius we await on New Year's to make us complete again.
Given that a Rose Hill Drive show on New Year's is generally agreed upon to be an absolute rock-solid necessity, let us change the topic to speculation as to what classic album they'll pay tribute to. Here are my three picks:
- Zep III
- Who's Next
- Songs for the Deaf, QOTSA
