New Year's Show 2009!!

Postby NateIsGod on Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:05 am

If Rose Hill Drive isn't playing a New Year's album show at the Boulder Theater this year, then I'm sure I'm not the only one who will consider that a horrific breach of protocol, the death of a tradition, the Seventh Seal, the nail in the coffin of Boulder's economy, the final straw, the end of an era, dogs and cats cohabiting, and just an all-around crushing bummer.

So that's not how it's going to go down.

I'm assuming RHD is there for us. They know that starting January 1st, we buy our new calendars and start crossing off days until the end of December. They know that the best shows we see during the rest of the year are but a faint echo of the sonic genius we await on New Year's to make us complete again.

Given that a Rose Hill Drive show on New Year's is generally agreed upon to be an absolute rock-solid necessity, let us change the topic to speculation as to what classic album they'll pay tribute to. Here are my three picks:

- Zep III
- Who's Next
- Songs for the Deaf, QOTSA

Your picks?

Rose Hill Drive wouldn't let us down like that, dude. Calm down! It's a foregone conclusion that RHD will be doing New Year's Eve shows in perpetuity, on into their 80s, when their hair is wispy and white, and their beards reach their knees. This year will be no exception!!!! Right????

That said, I vote for:

Led Zep III (kind of obvious, but come on!)
Who's Next (unless all the synthesizers are too much)
Beatles something?

The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion...confirmed.
Frank Zappa
Remember, information is not knowledge; knowledge is not wisdom; wisdom is not truth; truth is not beauty; beauty is not love; love is not music; RHD is the best.

I hate being debbie downer but I just saw Leftover Salmon's booked @ Boulder Theatre 12/30-31. I HOPE I'm wrong, but not a good sign for a continued NYE album cover run by the RHD boys.

here are my picks:

Grand Funk Railroad: Red Lp
Alice Cooper: Love it to Death
ZZ Top: Tres Hombres

I'd settle for just about anything at this point though.
