What a fucking show! I'll bet it was the best Zep show this year, and
I'm not kidding around. Jake handed off the bass duties to a guest
player, and he totally embodied the Plant entity. Jimmy himself could
not have played that set as well as Daniel did. And while Daniel put
his guitar down and picked up a couple of drum sticks, and they
brought out two floor tom toms, on which he helped Nate out on Moby
Dick, it was something to behold. Nate did the total justice to the
Zep material behind the kit. Jake played some electric rhythm guitar
as well as a mini electric keyboard on some of the Zep set. It took me
about 45 seconds to get past the I don't like this 4 piece RHD thing,
to being totally wowed by how awesome they sounded as a 4 piece!!

It's always a rough crowd at an all ages RHD show, and this was no
exception. The first band on stage was a local three piece rock band
from New Vista High, and they had a hundred high energy moshers down
in the pit. But these kids were golden! They totally supported their
band, "White as Night" who by the way were awesome for a young high
school aged act. The lead guitarist had some very interesting Fripp
nuances. But the kids proved their worth when the second band came
out, "Paper Bird" i believe their name was. Three very attractive
women vocalists, and four barefoot folkies dudes. A stand up bass, a
trombone player, a acoustic guitarist, and a banjo player! I thought
wow, these guys are in real trouble. Then one of the young vocalists,
who also played the trumpet, gave a little intro; she said we are kind
of sandwiched in between to rock acts, and we're the meat! You'll have
to get your folk on for us. Well everyone reacted really friendly to
this young beauty, and this weird seven piece started up, and totally
won over the audience by the end of their second number. The high
school kids treated them so well, it was great to see it happen. I
can't explain what exactly the genre of music this band was doing but
those girls could sing, and the band was interesting enough to really
keep it going, and they got an amazing reception from the sold out
Boulder Theater crowd.

RHD took the stage and played a whole set of their own music, and
then went right into the Led Zep II set and never let up. It was one
long monster set, and it shook the foundation of that place. I'm
really looking forward to tomorrow night's show!
Adrian, took some great photos, and some video, which I'll post later
on for those that might be interested. I got quite a workout
protecting two 10 year old's down front row center in the pit, but the
people around me were so cool, and everyone was looking out for the
kids. Everyone had a blast!
Good Night Luvies,

Hey boys, it's time to throw a bone. How's the disc going???
Is Nates's hair growing back?
Is Jake giving up the bass to be Robert Plant on the Zep tour?
Is Daniel going to wear the black glasses more in 2009???
