Did anyone tape this show? and whats the band's trading policy if they have one.

haha read my posts above..as far as I know, all UK dates have been taped so far. The band allows audio recording, but is not terribly keen on video.

Aye maybe so, but places like Newcastle Academy are taper unfriendly....there's generally overhead air-conditioning on in the CA2 hall as well... :|

Carling Academy 2, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK 2008.09.05

Small, but appreciative crowd of about 75 or less.
Daniel's mic level a bit low most of the time.
Busted strings..........maybe the reason for 2 mid song guitar changes!

Setlist:

Trans Am
Sneak Out
Altar Junkie
Cross The Line
A Better Way
One Night Stand
Godfather
Raise Your Hands
Long Tall Sally
Do You Wanna To Get High?
I'm On To You
Reptilian Blues

Day the four
========

Today I had to go to work, and got up at 6am to do so, packing a change of clothes and taping gear. Leaving at 4:30pm, I went back part of the way to Clapham Junction, catching a train around half five to Brighton.

Arriving in Brighton I found two things - firstly there was some incident involving the police, who had blocked most of the roads, and it was pissing it down. I found a side street, and wandered off to the venue, stopping for a brief meal / drying off session.

Found the venue easily opposite the ruined pier, and waited a short time with the usual suspects before they let us in. The Engine Room is by far the smallest room on this tour, and holds around 100 people, maybe more, if all the alcoves in this cellar venue are filled. It's slightly dingy, but even so, has a cute feel to it, and the staff are again incredibly friendly. The sound guy, who shares my real first name, allowed me to set up in front of the board, which was off centre, and almost behind the bar. For this reason, I set up one rig on the stand, while wearing the other.

I taped the first two bands using the stand, and wandered around a little during this, chatting to Ryan, and the guys from RHD, who perhaps found the dressing rooms a bit depressing, and seemed a little subdued. They were off to Dover straight after the gig, and looking forward to Europe.

Rose Hill Drive came on at 9:50, and I was a little worried about catching the last train to shitsville, which leaves Brighton at 11:37. They launched straight into the same Hendrix set as the previous two nights. I was stood dead centre, and unlike previous nights, had a very good view of what was going on. After the Band Of Gypsies set, they played mostly songs off their new album, ending in a great Reptilian Blues>Jam. Compared to the opening bands, Ryan again had done a great job with the sound. I found the "open" rig had been accidentally disconnected during the last song, but no worries, as my "stealth" recording sounds fine. No encore, or maybe I just didn't hang around long enough, as Carole kindly gave me a lift to the station. I caught my train, and arrived home shortly before 2am.

Conclusions: Personally I enjoyed London the best of the four gigs I went to, and it's great to have followed the band on my taping mission. Perhaps four nights was one too many, and I am looking forward to resting today.

I would like to get these recordings out to you guys, but my holiday on Monday will possibly stop me doing this in a hurry.

I did meet a few a few people who can't do the download thing, and althougth I'd be kidding myself if I thought there would be much demand for my amateur recordings, I'd rather not send out tons of discs - if you can arrange to copy these discs amongst yourselves that would be great, maybe set up a tree?

Good reviews Humbug! :D Enjoy your break, sounds like you need it!

It was interesting to read that they played the Hendrix sets several nights in a row. Personaly I'm glad I got to see them play their own set even though I do love Hendrix.

A version of Long Tall Sally can be found on this set:

Hope its not too long til the boys come back. Here's a wee reminder I took from King Tuts (sorry about the bald guy!)

I'm a fairly "experienced trader" and would be willing to set up a tree or vine and generally help out those who are new to this thing or inexperienced. PM sent. Thanks again for your efforts and reviews. Really appreciated. :D

From the looks of it. The Black Hand played it and Daniel sat in on guitar with them.

That's correct - I only just captured it in time..it's slightly less good sound as I was stood at the back of the venue. Pretty cool though, The Black Hand seem to really like RHD - their singer came along to Brighton, even though they weren't playing.

No worry. It's me speed reading - only problem is, I can't. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Thanks for the set list updates.

Today I'm again off work; and posted a small pile of audio discs. Basically, if I know you well, you've got the show(s) you attended, with the exception of Cave Troll and Gambo, who might have to do a spot of trading :)

Working on the FLAC discs now - if you've requested these, you'll receive them.

A quick update on my Tuts matrix : all ready to go, but I'm totally stuck on uploading to the archive.
I've changed pcs since I last uploaded, and I can't get my log-in to work on Smart FTP.
I also can't get the direct upload via Windows to work

I hope to get it sorted asap.
